Radiant Diagnostic Imaging Inc. is the proud premium entry sponsor of the Algoa FM 2024 Big Walk for Cancer. The Algoa FM Big Walk For Cancer presented by ISUZU MOTORS South Africa is a legacy event, in its 26th year and remains the biggest charity participation event in the Eastern Cape. This year, the event continues as a hybrid event with physical and virtual walks in support of those affected by Cancer.
Community events like big walks have a hugely positive impact, especially when local participation supports those affected by cancer. The walk also brings the community together in the fight against cancer, raising funds that go directly into local cancer initiatives. The Village Green, located next to the route, will be filled with a vibrant and festive atmosphere throughout this wonderful event.
Radhiant Diagnostic Imaging Inc. offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging services across the Eastern Cape and nationwide, with a strong focus on women’s health. Using state-of-the-art equipment, we specialise in mobile mammography for early and accurate detection of breast cancer, improving treatment outcomes and survival rates. Our dedicated team of skilled technologists and radiologists provides high-quality care, ensuring timely screenings and diagnostics. Built on principles of empathy, trust, and integrity, we aim to redefine women’s health imaging through excellence in care. We are also committed to raising public awareness through educational initiatives in schools, workplaces, and the wider community.
Corporate sponsorship plays a crucial role in enhancing community events, driving greater public engagement, especially among radio audiences. The financial support, along with the sponsor’s time and energy, boosts the event’s appeal and commercial relevance to the media brand’s key audience. In addition to funding, sponsors provide valuable resources and increased visibility. Research on corporate social activities highlights the mutual benefits of sponsorship, noting how it helps sustain community projects that rely on donations. It also stimulates local economic activity and enhances the profile of charities, encouraging further investment and support from the community.
Sponsorships offer businesses a powerful way to scale community initiatives, extending their reach and impact. These contributions not only reduce costs but also strengthen a company’s public image, fostering long-term goodwill. In return, companies often gain enhanced reputations and opportunities for further growth. Sponsorships also serve as proof of coordinated event management, increasing the likelihood of success. In less affluent areas, corporate support can be particularly impactful, helping to mobilise local resources and encourage broader community involvement.
Breast cancer is an emotive and visible disease, affecting and claiming the lives of women every day. Promoting breast cancer awareness has long been a global focus, and for at-risk patients, the support and information provided by groups, NGOs, and the health sector are vital in managing the disease.
Our core message, alongside the Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer, is to raise public awareness, highlighting symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options to improve survival rates. Community involvement, whether through participation or offering support, plays a crucial role in this fight, as shown by numerous survivor stories. These events focus on educating the public about breast cancer, helping individuals make informed choices about lifestyle, treatment, and the benefits of regular screenings. Additionally, we advocate for better government policies, awareness in local health communities, and education in schools, while promoting mammograms and self-examinations for early detection and improved outcomes. Early detection, lifestyle choices, and treatment are key in the fight against breast cancer.
In South Africa, one in 29 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, with over 13,500 new cases each year. Approximately 70% of breast cancers are hormone-responsive, and due to improved screening, incidence rates have increased. The average age of diagnosis in South Africa is 58—18 years younger than in high-income countries. Alarmingly, the incidence of breast cancer in younger women is rising, and around 2,500 women with the BRCA gene mutation are likely to develop breast cancer by age 50. Men are also affected, though at a lower rate, with 1% incidence. While survival rates are improving, with early 5-year survival at 36% and rising to 62% after 51 years, the prognosis for socioeconomically disadvantaged individuals remains dire.. These statistics highlight the need for better care and, most importantly, earlier detection to improve outcomes for all affected.
The sponsorship of the 2024 Big Walk for Cancer has significantly enhanced the quality and reach of community breast cancer awareness. It has also shown the immense potential for building networks and resources to support one another in the fight against cancer. With thousands of participants, media attention, and the town awash in pink, the Big Walk is a powerful platform for businesses to invest in social responsibility.
Radhiant Diagnostic Imaging Inc. has proudly contributed to this initiative, demonstrating the importance of corporate social responsibility in supporting local non-profit events. This sponsorship not only strengthens the community but also reflects the values and commitment of businesses like Radhiant in the ongoing battle against cancer.
